LTG O’Reilly is one of the foremost U.S. experts and thought leaders in missile defense and cooperative defense architectures for the U.S. Department of Defense as well as internationally in Europe/NATO and the Middle East.
LTG O’Reilly is an expert in missile defense, aerospace, energy recovery and program management. He is a senior fellow at the Atlantic Council, where he engages global government and business leaders to apply strategic technologies to address future global resource, energy, and security issues. LTG O’Reilly advises several U.S. defense contractors on the development of complex, integrated systems. He is Senior Vice President at Alphabet Energy, Inc., which develops innovative solid‐state heat-to-electricity conversion technologies.
During his 35-year Army career, LTG O’Reilly was the Director of the U.S. Missile Defense Agency and led the research, development, and procurement of power generation systems, combat support vehicles, and missile defense systems. LTG O’Reilly is on the advisory board of Spark 101, a non-profit that stimulates students’ interest in careers in science, technology, engineering, art and math.
A West Point graduate where he later was an Associate Professor of Physics, LTG O’Reilly has Masters degrees in Physics, National Security and Strategic Studies, and Management.
